Mother

I grabbed my handbag and run down the stairs as fast as I can, my driver is ready in the car. “Do you know Rose’s friend house?” “I don’t know the house but I heard they mentioned the suburb.” “Let’s go there now!” Both of us never been to this suburb. It’s very far from where I lived, I never heard the name. I need to bring my daughter back home quickly. I felt the danger.

Half an hour ago Rose told me she wants to go to the mountain for the weekend with her best friends. They’ve been friend since 7th grade, I know them all. I said okay. She took a taxi to her friend house. After she left I felt uneasy in my heart, I didn’t like the felling. Something was very wrong. She lied.

I didn’t have peace in my heart….praying unceasingly. Jesus please protects my daughter. It took ages to reach that suburb, I know it’s far….why there is traffic???
When we reached, the driver said where to go? Hmmmm….very good question. Where? Holy Spirit please help me, gives me direction.

I said, “Go around this area, go to every road!” He didn’t ask any question. He just drove. I saw many new housing complex in this neighborhood. They are nice houses, with garden. The car kept rolling. Then I said, “Go inside that complex!” There was a security guard at the front gate, we passed by without being stopped at all. “Which way?” He asked again. “Drive to every streets in this complex.” He followed. I keep praying. Holy Spirit show me in which house is Rose?

We were back to front gate, “Mam, we done circling all the streets.”I took a deep breath. “Okay, let’s go straight….,” he drove slowly. “Turn left.”“Turn right, take this second turn.” “Slowly….stop! Stop…! Go to that house on the right.” I point to a house with the gate half open.I get out of the car. The house was quite, no voice I heard. I knocked on the door twice. A woman open the door. I asked,  “Is Rose in here?” She answered, “Yes, wait.” WOW…..Wow….my heart jump…thank you Jesus.

In a second, my daughter came out. Her face so shocked. It was less than an hour after she arrived I stood at her friend house. Before I said anything she said, “ I’m sorry mom, I’m sorry mom.” “Let’s go home now.” I said calmly. She obeyed, she has no choice. This friend house was not the one she told me, this friend was not her best friend. A bad friend. Rose lied. She tried to explain, her friend is decided not to go that’s why she was in this friend place. I asked for her best friend number, I called….Aha! What’s a surprise, her best friend even didn’t know about the trip. Lied cover with another lied. I told her, I do not want her be friend with this person anymore, period. She kept saying sorry, of course I forgive her. I love her so much. Thank you Jesus for saving my daughter that day.

How did I know Rose in that house? I didn’t know, Holy Spirit directed me, God intervene.
God has given every mom dan dad special “sense/instinct/feeling/sensitivity” toward their children. This is a distinct gift to protect their children. This isn’t something new but many times parents ignore that.

She was sixteen at that time. A year after that, she went to college overseas. She was far from me….she didn’t need to tell me at all about what she was doing. She could  said she is at ‘a’ place but actually not there. She could said she went home late working on the project but actually partying the whole night. I wasn’t there with her. How do I know?

If she was at home with me, sure as her mom I will ask her where do you want to go, with whom, what time you’ll be back. And I will wait for her to come home and ask have you eat? One day she asked me why I have to ask those questions. I said because you are my daughter, I don’t ask the neighbor children, where they are going? With whom? What time they go home? Have they eaten? Do you have money? I asked you because we are family, you are my daughter.

Things started to change when she was overseas. She told me everyday what are her schedule, she emailed me the timetable of her class. She said so I know what time I can call her when she isn’t in the class. She told me about her  activities in the church. There are days that she is working, she told her schedule at work too. If I call her and she isn’t answer, she gave me her friend number to know about her. She told me what time she went home at night if she has to go out at night.

When I don’t need to know all the details than she let me know all of it. Ask about my opinion of her boy friends, her boss ….many things. Praise the Lord.

Mother and daughter relationship are always special, for me.
Once a week I hangout with my daughter, we have fun together. There were times we went snorkeling, fishing, hiking together. When we sat in the restaurant, I asked Rose…she was still a little girl. Look around those people, tell me what you see in them. Who they are? what they are doing? I was training her to be sensitive hearing the voice of God, to discern in the Spirit. Now she is married when we went for a brunch she ask me, “Mom…how about that person?” We laughed…She said it’s help her a lot in her social life. Her friends asked advice from Rose. She can even tell them what to happen.

There was a story in the Bible about  King Solomon, God appeared in his dream and said, “Ask! What shall I give you?” And Solomon said, “Therefore give to Your servant an understanding heart to judge Your people, that I may discern between good and evil. For who is able to judge this great people of Yours?” Then God said to him: “behold, I have done according to your words; see, I have given you a wise and understanding heart, so that there has not been anyone like you before you, nor shall any like you arise after you.” 1 Kings 3:5,9,12
I’m thinking of myself. If God came to me in the dream and ask me what I shall give you? It will take me a while or longer to answer. What I want? Ah…so many things I want….what is the most important things?
But I read King Solomon straight away know what he wanted, he gave the answered easily. I was wondering, what made him able to answer such question from God instantly, seems he knew it.
Proverbs 4:3-13

When I was my father’s son,
Tender and the only one in the sight of my mother,
He also taught me, and said to me:
“Let your heart retain my words;
Keep my commands, and live.
Get wisdom! Get understanding!
Do not forget, nor turn away from the words of my mouth.
Do not forsake her, and she will preserve you;
Love her, and she will keep you.
Wisdom is the principal thing;

Therefore get wisdom.
And in all your getting, get understanding.
Exalt her, and she will promote you;
She will bring you honor, when you embrace her.

She will place on your head an ornament of grace;
A crown of glory she will deliver to you.”

Hear, my son, and receive my sayings,
And the years of your life will be many.
I have taught you in the way of wisdom;
I have led you in right paths.
When you walk, your steps will not be hindered,
And when you run, you will not stumble.
Take firm hold of instruction, do not let go;
Keep her, for she is your life.

Solomon said when he was young his father King David taught him to get wisdom, understanding, wisdom is the principal things. I guest King David learnt from his experience as a father of his many sons, his sons rebellious, rapist, murderer. This brought him heartache. When Solomon just a boy he keep teaching him and telling him to get wisdom. To be a wise king need wisdom from God. I also think King David kept repeating this over and over again to Solomon. When God ask, “What shall I give you?” He knows the answer by heart, his dad David has told him. An understanding heart, wisdom. In other bible translations is  said a listening heart. To listen well the heart of God.

Yes it’s true, what we taught to our children they will remember it even though they seem not listening. We will see the fruits in their life, true also what heartache we cause in their life they will remember and keep it in their life and the result will be obvious. But don’t be sad, if you as a mother and father made a mistake, hurt your children, humble yourself, admit it and ask them to forgive you. As our Lord Jesus humble Himself became man and died as you on the cross for all our transgressions and iniquities. Release peace and love to the broken relationship. Declare unity in Jesus name.

Never doubt yourself as a mother. You have special distinct/uniqueness from God to help, educate, protect your children, bring them up in the knowledge and wisdom of God to usher them fulfill their destiny in life.
